Oxford’s Board Approves State Appeal and New Policies

Oxford Prep Board Votes to Pursue State Appeal

The Oxford Board of Directors voted unanimously on Tuesday, January 24th, 2017, to approve submission of the Oxford Preparatory Academy – Chino Valley charter renewal appeal to the California State Board of Education. This next step in the appeal process is in accordance with California state charter school law.

Oxford’s administrative team will prepare all necessary appeal documents for submission to the State Board by February 1, 2017. If the timeline moves as expected, our appeal will first be heard by the California Advisory Commission on Charter Schools (ACCS), on April 5th, 2017. The ACCS assists the State Board in carrying out the State Board’s proper role of ensuring that charter schools realize higher student achievement within a context of sound educational programs and practices, proper financial management, and other specific requirements of law.

We anticipate that our appeal will be heard by the State Board of Education during their May meetings, which are calendared for May 10th and 11th, 2017. More information will be shared regarding our state appeal as it becomes available and as meeting dates are confirmed.
