Organization Update: June 27, 2017

Oxford Prep Chino Valley Renewal Update

On Monday, June 26, 2017, following a closed session meeting, the Board of Directors announced that Oxford Preparatory Academy will pursue an appeal of Judge David Cohn’s June 23, 2017 ruling on Oxford Prep’s Petition for Writ of Mandate and Complaint for Injunctive Relief.

The appeal will raise important issues of first impression that will broadly impact California charter schools regarding the importance of pupil academic achievement in charter renewal decisions. The effort will be backed by the significant financial support of the California Charter Schools Association.

Oxford’s Board of Directors also reported that they have directed counsel to make an attempt at a settlement agreement with CVUSD.

Additional details regarding timeline, next steps and what to expect will be forthcoming.
