Executive Director Weekly Update 11/9/2018

Dear OPA Families:

We are approaching the dates for our 1st Trimester award assemblies. Please watch for more communications regarding days and times respective to our two campuses as this joyful time of year approaches.

Our Chancellors discussed and agreed on several changes to the awards criteria to keep students motivated and increase the number of students who are deserving of these awards. Awards eligibility is as follows:

CAP Award (Conduct Always Proper)

“A” in Citizenship (0 – 1 Demerits per Trimester)

PREP Award (Preparing Responsible, Excellent Pupils)

“A” in Homework (0 – 1 Deficiencies per Trimester)

PENNANT Award (Attendance Award)

Students with no more than 3 excused absences per trimester will qualify for the Pennant Award.

This will be my first time attending the awards ceremonies and I am really excited to share in the celebration of our Champions.

We have had quite a week, with elections, shootings and the devastating fires burning in southern and northern California. We can take comfort our community has been relatively unaffected, though I expect several of our families have friends and family who are dealing with loss to property and lives resulting from these events. If you are impacted, please do not hesitate to reach out to your OPA community. We are connected and care about each other and are here to assist you.

As a reminder, school will not be in session on Monday, November 12th in observance of Veterans Day. I hope you have a great three-day weekend.

P.S. Next week I will provide you with an update about our MOU with CUSD and upload information on our website to keep you informed in real time about our progress.
