Dear OPA Families,
We had a busy week at OPA. A team of our OPA professors from Saddleback Valley and South Orange County reviewed the New Generation Science programs the California State Board of Education adopted at its November 2018 public meeting. We selected two grade levels to pilot programs in the next few months. Staff recommendations will be presented during an OPA Board of Directors before August 1st.
The New Generation Science Standards for California emphasize the importance of having a deep understanding of science concepts and engaging in scientific thinking. The standards further acknowledge the importance of addressing big ideas and cross cutting concepts (for example, patterns, cause and effect, stability and change). I encourage you to attend, in person or virtually, our Regular Meeting of the OPA Board of Directors on Wednesday, February 6th at 6:00 pm on the SOC campus. The agenda for this meeting will post at least 72 hours in advance of the meeting. To access the Board agenda and materials, click on https://oxfordpreparatoryacademy.com/board
It looks like we will have a rainy Super Bowl weekend. Go Rams!
